Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a national program sponsored by the IRS to provide free tax preparation for qualified residents. The health and safety of our community members, partners, and volunteers is our top priority. Tax preparation services at all VITA sites will be operating by appointment only. The CA$H Coalition has partnered with local agencies and community services to create a network of VITA volunteers who serve residents of Albany, Columbia, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, and Schoharie Counties.

VITA couldn’t exist without the help of our volunteers.
Each year we rely on local residents who volunteer as tax preparers at multiple VITA sites throughout the Capital Region. We’re always looking for individuals who would like to help prepare tax returns, answer the phones make appointments, and more.
Our volunteers are offered a no-cost, comprehensive training program and easy-to-use software that will prepare you to take the IRS certification test and successfully help others complete their taxes.
